Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 96,597 units in June 2012 translating into a 20.3pc increase in sales over June 2011. This includes 13,066 units for export. The company had sold a total of 80,298 units in June 2011. The worst performers among its different modesl were the Mini segment cars that includes the M800, A-star, Alto and WagonR where sales dipped by 10.4pc. The company sold 34198 in June 2012 as compared to 38183 units last year. The biggest losers were SX4 which sold a mere 408 units as compared to 713 units last June. Kizashi sales continue to be insipid with only 6 cars being sold as compared to 32 last June. In the vans segment, the Omin and Eeco together sold 6916 units as compared to 12,182 units last June. The utility segment got a major push with the introduction of the Ertiga. The Ertiga, Gypsy and Grand VItara together sold 5638 units as compared to 185 units in June 2011. The Ertiga was the winner in this segment for Maruti. Of course, the Dzire sales continued to rock for the company with 13,741 units as compared to 2,486 units last June. It is the diesel version of the Dzire which is going great guns in this segment. The compact segment with Swift, Estilo and Ritz saw a 39.3pc increase in sales with 22,624 units as compared to 16,239 units in the previous year.
